Congratulations to all of the 2026 Massachusetts State History Day competitors and winners! On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School competed against 75 other Massachusetts schools. This year was the biggest state competition since Massachusetts started competing in National History Day in 1982. TWO of our group projects are advancing to the National History Day contest. Congratulations to Samantha Lenocker, Irene Ji, Lydia Wang, and Viola Fazio on this impressive accomplishment.

National History Day will be held at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, June 14 - 18, 2026.  This year’s theme is Revolution, Reaction, and Reform in History. You can read more about the projects HERE.

A special thank you to all of the teachers who worked closely with our students since September on their research projects: Kristen Borges, Brett Burnett, and Johann Knets.

On April 9th, Ms. Losee, along with retired art teachers Mrs. Lake and Mrs. Concannon, hosted an annual art workshop for adults with disabilities, known as The Friends, at the Hamilton-Wenham Community House. High school student volunteers Logan Guittarr, Addie Olson, Lucy Cronin, and Kaylin Benecke joined them and assisted by supporting The Friends with their watercolor paintings. Each year, student volunteers join the workshop, building meaningful connections with members of the community.

HWRHS Student standing on the steps of New England BioLabs campus for a field trip
Jennifer Caufield

HWRHS AP Biology class took learning beyond the classroom with a visit to New England BioLabs. Students got a look at how science is actually applied in the real world. This includes research and product development, as well as the behind-the-scenes work that makes it all possible.

They also heard from staff across a range of roles, learning about different pathways in science, including research, marketing, internships, and more. It was a great opportunity to see how what we study connects to real careers and real impact.

Prism concert March 31st - graphic showing a prism
Jennifer Caufield

Just as a prism breaks light into component parts, the PRISM concert breaks the instrumental music department into varied components.  Showcasing the individual talents rather than the bands as a whole, the PRISM concert features individuals and small ensembles in a unique and dramatic setting, utilizing the entire space in the Ferrini Dramatics Center with the help of the theater tech crew. The music played will be taken from the gamut of musical repertoire. The audience is not allowed to clap, talk, or leave, making the production seamless, as the acts start as soon as one lets off. The entire performance will last less than 60 minutes, admission is free, and all are welcome.  We hope to see you there!

LOCATION: Ferrini Dramatics Center, HWRHS
