Jennifer Caufield

DECA student officers gave an engaging presentation to the school committee, highlighting their mission to help students develop real-world leadership, communication, and business skills. They explained that DECA connects more than 294,000 students worldwide and offers hands-on learning through competitions, projects, and community events.

This year, the Hamilton-Wenham DECA chapter has 274 members, including 95 new participants. Officers described the “DECA Family” mentoring system that fosters teamwork and support among students, and they previewed upcoming competitions and events such as the Districts in Danvers, States in Boston, and the International Conference in Atlanta.

The officers also showcased recent successes, including raising nearly $3,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and earning state and international recognition for their Social Squad project in Project Management. DECA prepares students for college, careers, and leadership beyond the classroom.
