Curriculum & Instruction
The Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District is committed to providing all students with engaging, challenging learning experiences. As our Mission states, we educate students to become young adults of good character who have the skills and knowledge to be successful members of our global economy and engaged citizen of the 21st Century. Teachers and administrators are actively involved in state and district initiative and activities and tasks focused on curriculum, instruction, and assessment that are supported with ongoing high quality professional development.
Homeschooling Information
In developing your Home Education Plan(s), please know that the state requires a minimum of 900 hours of direct instructional time for all elementary students, as 990 hours for all middle and high school students. You are strongly encouraged to obtain a complete set of Curriculum Frameworks from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. They can be downloaded from their website https://www.doe.mass.edu/frameworks/current.html and they contain the state’s learning standards for each grade level. The frameworks can help you develop an appropriate Home Education Plan that should be transferable to any district in the state.
If you wish to homeschool your student(s), forms must be submitted to HWRSD Central Office, 5 School Street, Wenham, MA 01984 no later than July 31. If you have any questions, please contact the HWRSD Central Office 978-468-5310.
