August 8, 2023 - Architect Selection
It is with great pleasure that we announce the completion of a major milestone, as a part of the Cutler Elementary School project. JCJ Architecture (JCJ) has been selected as the architect for the Feasibility Study/Schematic Design Phase of the project. You can view their presentation and meet the team HERE.
On August 8, 2023, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) held their Designer Selection Panel Interviews for the two short-listed design firms: JCJ Architecture and Tappe Architects. A majority of the MSBA Panel Representatives, along with a unanimous vote of the District’s three voting representatives, agreed on the selection of JCJ Architecture. The District will now work with JCJ to negotiate a contract.
Pending a successful contract execution between the District and JCJ over the next few weeks, the project team will begin meeting to further the schedule and initial/early design option details as part of the Feasibility Study. As the process moves forward, the project team will keep the two communities of Hamilton and Wenham up to date on details of the project.
The entire project team is excited to begin the work to make the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District’s Cutler Elementary School project successful and to meet the expectations of both communities for this important project.

Upon successful conclusion of procurement of Owner's Project Management and Designer services in accordance with the procedures outlined under Module 2 - Forming the Project Team, the District and its team collaborate with the MSBA to document their educational program, generate an initial space summary, document existing conditions, establish design parameters, develop and evaluate alternatives, and recommend the most cost effective and educationally appropriate preferred solution to the MSBA Board of Directors for their consideration. During this phase, the Owner's Project Manager will submit on behalf of the District and its Designer a Preliminary Design Program and a Preferred Schematic Report. Approval by the MSBA Board of Directors is required for all projects to proceed into schematic design. Please refer to Module 4 - Schematic Design for additional information.
