| Students come to the Media Center for weekly lessons where they develop an appreciation for literature and the ability to access and evaluate information. Students learn how to use the Media Center in a meaningful way that enhances the subject matter being taught in their classroom. Students also learn how to present information in an effective manner.
Book Borrowing Procedure Each week, students will have an opportunity to check out a library book. Students are expected to return the book(s) in good condition the following week. Books are due on the day students are scheduled to come to the Media Center. Students in grades K-1 will be allowed to check out one book each week. Students in grades 2-5 will be allowed to check out two books each week. |

Jerry Pallotta Visits Winthrop Many thanks go out to the Friends of Wintrhop for sponsoring a visit from Children's Author, Jerry Pallotta. Students, Teachers, and Parents were able to follow Mr. Pallotta through the book making process and see how a book becomes published. We were enterained by his stories of taking an idea and making it a published work of art. Students learned the importance of research and revision in writing. The visit complemented a schoolwide author's study complete with signed books for the school library.
