Friends Meeting Minutes
Treasurer’s Report-Sue Bailey reported that we have an ending balance of $10,898.37 in the Friends account. A complete breakdown of the report is available upon request. We intend to give $2000 in scholarships again this year to graduating seniors. We will need people to read scholarship request forms. If you would like to help with this, please contact Grace Chmura. Bob Krol reported that the Principal’s coffee in Feb. had a great turnout and Judy Naylor did a nice job presenting on the technology program at the High School. We will have one more Principal’s coffee on May 1st and Matt Fox will be the guest speaker. Bob also reported that the school has received $600 from Target. The money is used to support the School Pride program at the High School. Thank you to all of you that use your Target card for purchases because the school benefits from every purchase. Phonebooks - Just a reminder that if you didn’t receive your phonebook this year, Grace Chmura has them in her car so just flag her down to grab one! The majority of the books went out in Jan. but it appears that many in the Junior class did not receive theirs. Apologies for the long delay but there are still many available. A thank you to Diane Bucco who has taken on the responsibility to distribute a birthday card and candy bar to staff members on their birthdays. The Friends just started this in January but hope to continue it for the next school year. The potential calendar fundraiser is on hold for now for several reasons, one being the start up cost. We also discussed the idea of putting a comprehensive calendar in the phonebook. A handbag fundraiser was discussed but it was decided that the focus should be on the coffee cakes for the spring. HWstuff will not be happening this Spring but will resume sales on Hamilton Wenham merchandise for the Fall. Staff Appreciation Week is May 4-8 this year and we would like to do something special for the staff each day that week. If anyone would like to be involved in helping celebrate our great staff, please contact Gail Biancucci or Grace Chmura. The Boston Coffee Cake sale will be going on from April 1-14. Cakes will be delivered before Mother’s Day. We need to sell 180 cakes to avoid shipping costs. We have easily done this in the past. Information will be on the school website and brochures are available through Grace Chmura. Many thanks to Marianne Fravel who sends out all the information to families about these fundraisers and to Terri vonStaats who will be coordinating the pickup of the cakes. We discussed the possibility of joining the Middle and High School Friends. Grace Chmura will be going to a Middle School Friends meeting to share what the High School Friends do. A joint meeting will be scheduled for sometime in April. The Staff Appreciation Luncheon will again be held on the last day of school, June 18th. An email will be sent asking for volunteers to provide drinks, salads, finger sandwiches and desserts. Next Meetings: April 29th at 8:30 a.m. joint middle/high school meeting May 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the lobby
